Moomin Cafe –

When my family was visiting we went to the Moomin cafe in Tokyo Dome. I’m not sure if Moomin is popular in your home country? When I grew up it was one of those very cute tv series and magazines I loved to read and watch. The characters and their world is so cute! The story is written by the Swedish speaking Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson. I just recently learned that the Moomin tv-series is a Japanese made anime. No wonder that the Moomins are so popular in Japan as well! Did you read or watch Moomins when you were a kid?

There are three Moomin cafes in Tokyo and they all look different. When you sit by your table the staff will move the different stuffed Moomin characters around the tables so you can spend some time with the Moomins. You might think that all of this sounds and looks childish? But 90 % of the customers (at least when I’ve been there) are grown ups without kids. I love this childish side of Japan and there are so many different theme restaurants to explore if you’re interesting in it. One tip is the ( I haven’t tried it though but everyone who has loves it) wrapped Moomin buns filled with cream and chocolate or fruit jam.

I hope you’re having a great day!

Elle

    1. That’s so interesting, that you never heard of it! In Sweden, Finland and Japan (and probably more places in Europe) it’s very popular!
