One very fashionable and cozy place in Tokyo is Daikanyama. The streets are full with cute boutiques, restaurants, chic people and the queen of bookstores, Tsutaya! The store has three interlinked buildings with books, magazines, music, movies and an always crowded yet just perfect Starbucks (you can sit down and have a coffee while you browse through your newly bought magazines and books or try to decide which ones to buy). If you feel like having a cocktail or a yummy dessert you can take a seat at the very sophisticated Anjin lounge on the second floor in the middle building. If you love magazines you will probably think that this Tsutaya store is very similar to heaven, they have such a great selection!
You can get lost in this bookstore for hours and when you finally have picked out your new treasures you’ll most likely be very hungry. There are a lot of great restaurants in Daikanyama. Ivy Place, which is just next to Tsutaya, is one of them and you also find this Le Pain Quotidien behind the first Tsutaya building.
I think that Daikanyama feels very European and different from other places in Tokyo.
Do you like bookstores and if you do, which one is the best one you’ve been to?
