Asakusa – 浅草

Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan, sensoji temple, tokyo sightseeing, buddhist temple, nakamise

A couple of weeks ago some of my Love’s friends were in Tokyo for vacation. We showed them around town and Sensoji Temple in Asakusa was one of the places we went to. Sensoji Temple is a beautiful very powerful looking Buddhist temple built in the 7th century. When you walk up to the temple you’ll be walking through Nakamise, which is a shopping street with souvenirs and traditional gifts and snacks. It’s a beautiful big temple area which really breathes the Japanese history. I love all the red colors and the doors to the temple are so gorgeous. I can’t wait to shoot some outfits in the area and show you!

When you visit the different areas of Tokyo it really hits you how different it looks everywhere. Asakusa and Ueno are the older parts of Tokyo and for example Ginza and Tokyo Station are the modern areas filled with tall and shiny buildings. Ginza and Tokyo Station reminds me of NYC and Manhattan. Both NYC and Tokyo have so many different cities in the city. That’s one of the things I love about these both cities. Like Soho, Meatpacking, Chinatown, Upper East Side, Korea Town and so on in NYC and Asakusa, Shibuya, Harajuku, Ginza and so on in Tokyo. It feels like you can travel to a new city and place every day!

What do you love about your city?

Love,
Elle

  1. Omg, visitng your blog is like reliving my holiday there. Loved Asakusa. Did you visit the watering fountain on the right hand side before entering the temple. The detailing on the dragons was amazing. I didn’t wash or drink from the fountain but I took delight in watching others and taking photos.
